CID CAMPBELL
My Biography.
Irish Actor Cid Campbell was born in the liberties area of Dublin and as a result spent his childhood surrounded by “characters” that you would think only existed within the writings of James Joyce and Brendan Behan and surrounded by historic landmarks such as Marshes Library/Christchurch Cathederal/Iveagh Markets in Francis Street, Meath Street & James’s Gate. It was the magic of these people and places coupled with Cid’s father encouraging of him to watch the old “Black & Whites” that first triggered his interest into the world of Acting at a very young age, but it would be a long time after that, over 20 years that he would take his first steps to becoming an actor.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2009 that he would begin his journey and a chance phone call with a well known Irish Actress/Acting teacher ended up with him enrolling in his first set of acting classes. The Irish Film Academy in Temple Bar was the place and Rachel Sarah Murphy was the teacher and under her guidance he learned much about what it is to be an actor and most importantly what it is to be the character, here he realised that all those years of “Abbey Acting” as his father put it had a place and ultimately a purpose.
While at the IFA Cid was given the opportunity to be part of “The Troop” which was a selected group of actors that were given the chance to perform a Monologue to members of the public, this took place at the New Theatre in Temple Bar in Dublin’s city centre on the 12th/13th of December 2009, where he received very positive feedback and acclaim from the public and his fellow actors alike. Cid then went on to do classes with acclaimed Irish Writer/Director Terry McMahon after he wrapped on his début film as a Director of the film “Charlie Casanova”
This was an intense set of classes that gifted Cid with endless rewards as an actor learning the ropes as he was taught the importance of stripping each character down to its core and starting from scratch and that when looking at the words on the page that there truly are no limitations to what you can do with them. After Terry’s classes Cid took a year of to concentrate on perhaps what is the most challenging role he is likely to take on as he became the proud father to twins in late september 2010. Still working away behind the scenes and has been happy to collaborate with various people on various writing protects etc. He is currently involved in three student shorts and one micro budget feature and is slowly but surely getting back into acting and looks forward to continuing his journey in 2013.
